Roundup: Bobcats Baseball Downs Moniteau, Softball Victorious Over A-C Valley

The Clarion Area Baseball and Softball Teams were both victorious on Monday, May 9th, with the homestanding Bobcat Baseball Team downing the Moniteau Warriors 14-4 in five innings and the visiting Bobcat Softball Team defeating the A-C Valley Falcons 11-5.

Baseball: Clarion 14 – Moniteau 4 (5 innings)

Dawson Smail was 3-for-3 including a home run and adouble, with 4 runs batted in and three runs scored, to lead the Bobcats. Dauntae Girvan had a single, drove in a run and scored three times. Chase Kriebel doubled, drove in a pair of runs and scored once.

Bryce Brinkley had a hit, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs. Devon Lauer singled and had two RBIs. Derek Smail scored twice, while Cam Lapinto, Noah Harrison and Ryan Alston all crossed the plate once.

Clarion led 1-0 after one and after holding Moniteau off the board in the top of the second, the Cats scored five runs in the bottom of the inning for a 6-0 lead.

Moniteau scored three runs in the top of the third, but Clarion answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning to take an 8-3 lead. Moniteau scored their final run in the fourth and the Bobcats scored six in the bottom of the fifth for the win.

Tanner Miller was the winning pitcher.

The Bobcats will host A-C Valley/Union today (Tuesday, May 10th) at 4:30PM and Clarion-Limestone tomorrow (Wednesday, May 11th) at 4:30PM. Both games are set for Clarion County Park.

Softball: Clarion 11 – A-C Valley 5

The Falcons opened the scoring with a run in the bottom of the first, but Clarion answered with four in the top of the second for a 4-1 lead. A-C Valley cut Clarion’s lead in half with a run in the third.

The Cats scored a pair in the fifth and three more in the sixth, with the Falcons answering with three of there own in their half of the sixth, leaving Clarion with a 9-5 lead. The Bobcats scored two more in the seventh, while holding A-C Valley off the board, to set the11-5 final.

Jordie Best went 3-for-3, with a home run and a double to lead the Bobcats. She drove in three runs and scored twice. Kylee Beers homered and drove in three runs.

Noel Anthony had a pair of hits, drove in a run and scored once. Payton Simko and Haylee Kratsley each singled, scored a run and drove in a run. Alexa Kitchen had two RBIs and scored a run, while Bri Forrest and Emily Troese both scored twice.

Aba Burke had two doubles and three RBIs to lead the Falcons. Maddie Hurrelbrink had two hits.

Payton Simko threw 14 strikeouts while picking up the win for the Cats.

The Bobcats are scheduled to travel to Clarion-Limestone tomorrow (Wednesday, May 11th).
