Several Bobcat Golfers Competing In Great Lakes Junior Golf Tour; Mckayla Kerle, Kameron Kerle, Devon Lauer and Lucas Mitrosky Qualify For Tour Championship Match

We have several members of the Clarion Area golf team traveling this summer to play competitive tournament golf with the Great Lakes Junior Golf Tour (GLJGT).

Tournaments are 2-3 days depending on the tournament. The tournament field of players is made up mainly of junior golfers from the Erie area. Our players are an exception, as we travel multiple times a week throughout the summer to engage in competitive golf. We have a lot of dedication and commitment out of these players on our team.

The first tournament of the 2022 season was Rumble in the Hills on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 14th and 15th, at North Hills Municipal Golf Club in Corry. Four Clarion Area High School golf team members played in this event.

McKayla Kerle tied for 1st place with two rounds of 84. Kameron Kerle (playing up in the 16-19 age division this year) took 5th place with rounds of 75 and 80. Devon Lauer took 6th place firing rounds of 84 and 76. Lucas Mitrosky took 6th place in the 13-15 age division.

The second tournament was the Park View Open on Sunday and Monday, June 19th and 20th, held at Lake View Golf Club and Lawrence Park Golf Club.

Mckayla took 3rd place shooting rounds of 90 and 88. Kameron took 5th place with 91 and 77. Devon took 12 place with two rounds of 88. Lucas took 2nd place with rounds of 94-91.

The third tournament was the Oakland Beach Bash, on June 27th-28th at the Oakland Beach Golf Club.

Mckayla took 1st place with scores of 88 and 77. Kameron took 2nd place with 81 and 77. Devon took 5th place with rounds of 82 and 84. Lucas took 2nd place with rounds of 83 and 92.

The Erie District Golf Association (EDGA) Junior Match Play Qualifier was held at the Riverside Golf Club, in Cambridge Springs, on July 6th.

Mckayla finished in 1st place with a 79. Kameron took 2nd place with a 74 and Devon finished in 5th place with a 77.

The EDGA Junior Match Play Championship began on Thursday, July 7th.

Mckayla won her first match by being up 8 holes with 6 holes to play. She was eliminated in round two by Anna Marie Zinram 3 and 2.

Kameron won his first match by being up 4 holes with 3 holes to play and then won his 2nd match by being up 1 hole. Kameron was eliminated in round 3 by Nick Momeyer 3 and 2.

Devon won his first match 3 and 1. In Round Two, he won after 19 holes of play. Devon was eliminated 5 and 4 by Kyle Westfall.

Devon and Kameron both made it to the final day of play, in the Junior Match Play Championship, on Friday, July 8th and their opponents went on to play each other with Kyle Westfall taking the title after 19 holes of play against Nick Momeyer.

The 2022 GLJGT Lake Shore Summer Fling was held on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 12th and 13th at Lake Shore Country Club

Mckayla captured 3rd place, with rounds of 85 and 91. Devon had rounds of 76 and 81, for 3rd place. Kameron finished in 4th place with shooting an 80 and 81.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, July 19th and 20th, it was the GLJGT Battle at the Vineyard at Green Meadows Golf Course at North East.

Mckayla placed 1st with scores of 86 and 88. Kameron was 5th with rounds of 82 and 78. Devon shot 77 and 85 for 6th place.

The GLJGT Country Club Classic was held at the Country Club of Meadville on Monday and Tuesday, July 25th and 26th.

Mckayla took 4th place with two rounds of 79. Lucas finished in 4th place with rounds of 84 and 81. Kameron shot 77 and 79 for 4th place. Devon shot an 84 and a 74, good for 6th place. The 74 tied for low round of the day. James Keenan, in his first tournament appearance, finished 15th with two rounds of 99.

The EDGA Junior Stroke Play Championship was held on Thursday to Saturday, July 28th to 30th at The Ridge Golf Club (formerly known as Crab Apple Ridge) at Waterford.

Kameron shot 78, 78 and 76 to capture 1st place. Mckayla placed 2nd with rounds of 74, 83 and 80.

On Monday and Tuesday, August 1st and 2nd the GLJGT Whispering Grove Tournament at Grove City Country Club and Whispering Woods Golf Club, in Erie were held. Monday’s event was at Grove City, with Tuesday’s action at Whispering Woods.

McKayla took 2nd place with a 79 at Grove City and an 87 at Whispering Woods. Lucas finished in 2nd place carding an 86 at Grove City and 88 at Whispering Woods. Kameron had a 3rd place finish, 5 strokes off of the lead. He recorded a 74 at Grove City and an 85 at Whispering Woods.  

Mckayla, Kameron, Devon and Lucas have all scored enough points to compete in the GLJGT Tour Championship on Friday and Saturday, August 4th and 5th at Downing Golf Course in Harborcreek.

Way to go, Mckayla, Kameron, Devon, Lucas and James on your Great Lakes Junior Golf Tour, so far And all the Best to Mckayla, Kameron, Devon and Lucas in the Tour Championship!!!!
