Wreaths Across America Delivering Wreaths On Wednesday, December 14th

Photos from past years deliveries, unloading and transferring, ceremony

(By Noreen Shirey, Clarion County WWA Coordinator)

This event, which is held “each December, on National Wreaths Across America Day . . . is carried out by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as at more than 3,000 additional locations in all 50 U.S. states, at sea and abroad”.

Wreaths Across America is coming back to Clarion for its fourth year. This year over 50 cemeteries in Clarion County are participating.

Limestone Township Fire Department members who helped escort the transport: (L-R) Spencer Shirey, Randy Reynolds, Rodney Buzard and Roger Simpson

So many wreaths are needed that Chuck or regular WAA volunteer truck driver is leading Joe, because two semi’s are needed to bring our veteran wreaths. Joe will also be bringing a passenger, Skip, who is a Vietnam Veteran.  I’m hoping Clarion County will give them a warm welcome. They arrive at the Immaculate Conception Church and School, on Wednesday, December 14th, at approximately 9:15AM.

The Wreaths Across America Ceremony is on Saturday, December 17th at noon in Clarion on 2nd Avenue.  Other areas participating are Knox, Rimersburg, New Bethlehem, Fryburg,  Perry Township, Marienville and Lucinda with their own ceremonies.

We still need wreaths. I am coordinating 16 cemeteries this year,  Clarion, Immaculate Conception, Strattanville Memorial (John Blachier), Strattanvillle Centennial (Deb Chapman), Fisher Presbyterian and Methodist, Churchville, Seceder and  Licking (all 5 Joan Kriebel), Asbury (Tina Rankin), New Rehobeth (John McCall),  Limestone (Rodney Buzard)  Salem-Frogtown (Dale McCain), Tylersburg (Courtney Kirkwood), Dehner (Becky and Brian Manley), Helen Furnace (Stephanie Renninger),

The cargo is unveiled. The wreath in front is dedicated to Chuck Andrews’ stepfather
