Basketball Roundup: Bobcats Girls And Boys Teams Down A-C Valley
The Clarion Area Bobcats Boys and Girls Basketball both defeated the A-C Valley Falcons in Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference action, on Tuesday (December 20th), with the Girls winning their match 46-22 and the Boys taking their contest 47-45.
Girls Game: Clarion 46 – A-C Valley 22
The Bobcats led 20-6 after one and 33-9 at the half. A 5-4 Clarion edge, in the third, had them up 38-13 heading to the final stanza. The Falcons had a 9-8 fourth quarter edge to set the final.
Sophie Babington led the Bobcats scoring with 16 points, including four three-point baskets. Taylor Alston also hit for double-figures with thirteen points.
Emily Troese and Natalie Durish scored 4 points apiece. Durish also collected seven rebounds. Cecylia Bowser scored three points on a trey. Alivia Diehl had 2 points and nine boards, with Madilyn Baker and Kelsey Best also scoring two points.
Maddy Dehart led the Falcons with 6 points, including a three-pointer and twelve rebounds. Keira McVay and Ava Snyder each scored five points, with Snyder connecting on a three.
Boys Game: Clarion 47 – A-C Valley 25
A-C Valley held a 16-13 lead after one, but the Bobcats held a 31-28 halftime lead after outscoring the Falcons, 18-12 in the second.
With an 11-7 third period edge, the Cats led 42-35 heading to the fourth. The Falcons outscored the Bobcats 10-5, in the last period, to set the final.
Devon Lauer and Dawson Smail led the Bobcats with 16 points apiece. Lauer had 2 three-point buckets, to go along with 4 steals and three assists. One of Smail’s baskets was a trey. He pulled down 7 rebounds and had five steals.
Derek Smail scored six points. Logan MacKinlay contributed 4 points and Dauntae Girvan scored 3 points on a basket from long range.
Brody Dittman led the Falcons with 15 points, by virtue of five three-pointers, followed by Alex Preston’s twelve points.
