Bobcats Basketball Roundup: Girls Top Brookville, Boys Fall To DCC

Both Clarion Area Basketball teams were on the road, in non-conference action on Monday (February 6th), with the Girls downing Brookville 40-32, while the Boys fell to DuBois Central Catholic 56-40.

Girls: Bobcats 40 – Raiders 32

Taylor Alston led Clarion, in scoring, with 12 points, while Sophie Babington also reached double-figures with ten. Gia Babington and Marley Kline contributed six points apiece.

The Cats trailed 14-8 after one, but came back with a 15-6 edge in the second, to lead 23-20 at the half. After an 8-2 Bobcat advantage in the third, Clarion led 31-22, headed to the final stanza, where a 10-9 Raiders edge set the final.

Eden Wonderling led Brookville with a game-high seventeen points.

Boys: Cardinals 56 – Bobcats 40

DCC held an 8-5 edge after one and with a 13-7 second quarter advantage, the Cardinals led 21-12 at the half. DCC led 40-26 after three and a with a 14-6 advantage in the fourth the final was set.

Dauntae Girvan and Dawson Smail led the Cats with ten points apiece. Smail canned two treys. Bryce Brinkley added eight point, including a bucket from beyond the arc.

Devon Lauer added four points. Gabe Simko, Tanner Miller, Nathan Fredrick and Derek Smail each contributed two points.

Luke Swisher and Andrew Green led the Cardinals, with nineteen apiece. Green had two treys.

The Bobcat Girls will host DuBois on Wednesday (February 8th) and The Boys will travel to Marienville to face Forest Area, on Thursday (February 9th). The Boys and Girls will both host Keystone in the Hoops For Hope Cancer Awareness event, on Friday (February 10th).
