Bobcats Fall To Crusaders In District Nine Girls 1A Quarterfinal

The Clarion Area Bobcats fell to the homestanding Elk County Catholic Crusaders 47-28, in the District Nine Girls 1A quarterfinals, on Thursday (February 23nd). ECC is the #2 seed and Clarion is the #7 seed.

Elk County led 24-9 at the half and had a 23-19 second half edge.

Sophie Babington led the Bobcats with 13 points and Taylor Alston added seven.

Emily Mourer had 16 points to lead the Crusaders. Syd Alexander added fifteen.

The Bobcats will now move on to a the consolations, which will determine District Nine’s final entrant to the PIAA State tournament. Clarion will play the #6 seed Ridgway Elkers at St. Mary’s on Monday (February 27th) at St. Marys High School. Tipoff is set for 7:00 pm.

The winner of that matchup will play the winner of the other matchup between #5 seed Port Allegany and #8 seed Northern Potter, on Thursday (March 2nd).

Elk County Catholic will face #3 seed North Clarion, in the semifinals on Tuesday (February 28th).
