Bobcats Fall To Karns City In KSAC Championship Tournament Semifinal

The Clarion Area Bobcats fell 62-49 to the Karns City Gremlins in their Semifinal matchup in the Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference Championship Tournament at Tippin Gymnasium on Thursday (February 16th).

With a 19-9 Gremlins’ edge in the first period and a 14-11 advantage in the second, Karns City carried a 33-20 lead into the half. Another Karns City edge, at 13-9, in the third had them up 46-29 heading to the final stanza. The Bobcats scored 20 points to KC’s 16, in the fourth to set the final.

Gabe Simko and Bryce Brinkley led Clarion with thirteen points apiece. Derek Smail and Devon Lauer both scored seven points.

Karns City’s Chase Beighley led all scorers with twenty-one points.

The Gremlins will face Clarion-Limestone, 56-51 winners over Union, in the Championship game on Saturday.

The Bobcats will next be in action, in the District Nine Class-A Playoffs next week.
