Baseball: Bobcats Down Rams 17-10 (8 Innings)

The Clarion Bobcats traveled to Johnsonburg on Monday (March 27th) and came away with an 8 inning, 17-10 win over the Rams.

The game was scoreless after two and each team pushed one across in the third. Johnsonburg got a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and three more in the fifth, to take a five run, 6-1 advantage.

But the Cats came back with three in the sixth and two in the seventh, to send the game to the extra inning, tied at six apiece.

Clarion had a monster eighth inning plating eleven runs. The highlight of the inning was a grand slam by Dawson Smail, that put Clarion up 15-6 at the time. The Cats scored two more runs in the inning, to lead 17-6.

Johnsonburg closed the gap in their half of the eighth, with four runs, setting the final.

Dawson Smail had two doubles and the grand slam. He drove in four, all on the big hit and scored twice. Noah Harrison had three hits, scored three runs and had an RBI. Tanner Miller singled three times, crossed the plate twice and drove in five runs.

Derek Smail singled twice, scored twice and had an RBI. Wyatt Watterson and Matt Alston each had a single, scored twice and had an RBI. Dauntae Girvan had one hit and scored twice. Devon Lauer singled and scored a run and Hayden Weber drove in two and scored a run.

Derek Smail picked up the win in relief.

The Bobcats will travel to Cranberry next Tuesday (April 4th).
