Baseball: Bobcats Fall To Chucks In Season Opener

The Clarion Area baseball team fell to the Punxsutawney Chucks 13-5, in the Cats season opener, on Friday (March 24th).

The Bobcats opened the scoring with a run in the top of the first, but the Chucks answered with 5 runs in the bottom of the inning for a 5-1 lead. Clarion plated 3 runs in the top of the seconds, with Punxsy scoring four in their half of the inning, moving their lead to 9-3.

The Bobcats were held off the board for the next three innings, while the Chucks scored two apiece in the third and fifth. The Cats pushed one across in the top of the sixth, setting the final at 13-5 Punxsutawney.

Dawson Smail had 1 hit, 2 runs scored and two runs batted in, for the Bobcats. Tanner Miller and Hayden Weber each had a hit and scored a run. Noah Harrison had a hit and drove one in.

Gary Mattus scored a run, Wyatt Watterson had a hit and Devon Lauer drove in a run.

The Bobcats are scheduled to travel to Johnsonburg on Monday (March 27).
