There are major happenings and much information surrounding the Clarion Area Bobcats appearance in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association’s (PIAA) 2023 State Class-1A Baseball Championship Game this coming Thursday (June 15th) at 10:30 a.m. at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park at Penn State, where they’ll face the winner of the DuBois Central Catholic – Dock Mennonite Game that was postponed due to weather and rescheduled this afternoon (Tuesday, June 13th).

There is much information to be shared, so an overview first of what is included in this article: Team Sendoff – Wednesday (June 14th); Fan Bus – Thursday (June 15th); Link to purchase tickets on line (No sales at the gate – The ticket is good for all the day’s games); Pennsylvania Cable Network (PCN Broadcast information).

The first order of business it the big sendoff for the Cats, which will include a gathering at Clarion Area High School, which will begin at 3:15 p.m. and then a Police and Fire Escort from the school and through town at 3:30 p.m. The Bobcats’ entourage will proceed from the school and along Liberty Street to North Second Avenue and then head East, through town on Main Street.

Dave Smail – Clarion Area Baseball shared, “The Team will be escorted out by the Clarion Fire Department, Clarion Borough Police, PennWest Police, and the Pennsylvania State Police.

“The Community is being asked to line the Main Street of Clarion for the sendoff. Everyone needs to wear the Black & Orange. We are asking people to put up balloons, etc…

Clarion Area School District Superintendant Joe Carrico had these words, ‘Please come out and support the baseball team this Wednesday (June 14th) by lining the streets of downtown Clarion.  The baseball team is heading out at 3:30 p.m.  The game is on Thursday. 

“We are incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication the students, coaches, and the families have made to reach this point of playing for a state championship! 

“Please know that as great of a team and athletes we are sending to State College, these young people are even better as friends, students and community members. 

“LET’S GO BOBCATS!”

Clarion Area High School Principal Natalie Miller-Martini also had some fine words, “I personally would like to congratulate Coach Jewett, his coaching staff, and the entire team for their hard work, dedication and all the efforts that have earned them a spot in the State Championship playoff game. 

“The Boys Varsity Baseball team has also been blessed with a tremendous support system with their families and within the Bobcat community. 

“Team, be sure to enjoy this moment doing what you love, using the talents you have developed, and the rest will come.

Following Is information on the Fan Bus for students who were in seventh through eleventh grades during the 2022-23 school year:

BOBCAT FAN BUS
Congratulations to the Clarion Bobcat baseball team on advancing to the State finals to be held Thursday, June 15th, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Medler Field at Lubrano Park – PSU!

A fan bus will be available for Clarion Area High School students who were enrolled in grades 7th thru 11th grade for the 2022-23 school year.

Arrive at High School – 7:30 a.m. Bus Departs High School – 7:45 a.m. Non-stop trip from school to game location and back.

Bring snacks or money for concession stand. No open containers.

Tickets must be purchased online and a printed ticket must be presented prior to boarding the fan bus. Tickets will NOT be available at the game. Tickets may be purchased at https://www.piaa.org/sports/tickets.aspx?sport=baseball.

Space is limited to 45 students.

To reserve your seat on the fan bus, please email your student name, student cell phone number, current grade for the 2022-23 school year and parent’s cell phone number or emergency contact and cell phone
number to rsaver@clarion-schools.com.

Deadline to reserve a seat on the fan bus is Wednesday (June 14th) at 3:00 pm.

Please, if at all possible, plan on attending the game. But if you can’t possibly make it the Pennsylvania Cable Network (PCN) (Channel 100 in Clarion) is televising the game live. If you are on another cable system check to see if they carry PCN.

But again, if you can make the game and cheer on the Bobcats please head over on Thursday morning.
