Kameron Kerle Shoots A Tournament Low 78 To Lead The Bobcats To A Second Place Finish In 2nd Annual Grape Picker District Ten Preview Tournament

The Clarion Bobcat Golf Team traveled the Lakeview Country Club, on Thursday, August 17th to play in the 2nd Annual Grape Picker District Ten Preview Tournament, coming away with a second place finish in Class-AA. This followed the Cats’ first place finish in the inaugural event, in 2022.

Lakeview Country Club’s course is one of the most prestigious courses in Western Pennsylvania.

There were fifty-nine golfers from twelve schools in this event which featured, in addition to the Bobcats from District Nine, eleven top schools out of District Ten, nine in Class-AA and three in Class-AAA.

Clarion Coach Jackie Kerle had this to say about the conditions, “It’s known to be a challenging course, with fast greens, but today it played particularly tough with fast greens and windy conditions.”

Bobcat Kameron Kerle was the top golfer in Class-AA, shooting a 78, which was the best individual round for all golfers, whether in Class-AA or Class-AAA.

The format of the match was set up so that the teams had five golfers compete, with there top four scores counting for the team score. The Bobcats finished with a 345, four strokes behind Grove City’s first place total of 341.

The Bobcats score was one stroke higher than their 344 last year.

Clarion’s scoring looked like this: Kameron’s 78, followed by Devon Lauer with an 84, Lucas Mitrosky with a 91 and Tanner Miller with a 92 and Avery Kline with a 95. Kameron’s, Devon’s, Lucas,’ and Tanner’s scores accounted for the 345 total.

North East’s Leyton Hassenplug followed Kameron by one stroke, to finish second in Class-AA, with a 79. Fairview’s Anthony Laboda was third with an 80.

The Class-AA Team Standings were as follows: First – Grove City (341), Second – Clarion (345), Third – Fairview (346), Fourth – General McLane (353), Fifth – Lakeview (355), Sixth (tie) – Fort LeBoeuf (377), Seventh – North East (380) and Eighth – Mercyhurst (385).

The top three individual scorers among Class-AAA golfers were: Braddock Damore from Warren (84), Jack Mucha from McDowell (84) and Cooper Wierzchowski from Cathedral Prep (85).

The Class-AAA Team Standings were: First – Warren (350), Second – McDowell (362) and Third – Cathedral Prep (362).
