Basketball Roundup: Bobcat Boys Down DCC, Girls Fall To Punxsy
Both Clarion Area basketball teams were in action last night (Monday, December 18th). The Bobcat boys downed the visiting DuBois Central Catholic Cardinals 56-50, while the Clarion girls lost to the homestanding Punxsutawney Chucks 53-31.
Boys Varsity: Clarion 56 – DuBois Central Catholic 50
The Bobcats held a 30-28 lead at the half and the teams were tied at 39-all after three. A 17-11 Clarion edge in the last stanza, set the final.
Four Bobcats scored in double-figures, led by Devon Lauer’s thirteen. Gabe Simko and Dawson Smail each scored 12 points, while Bryce Brinkley added ten.
Owen Krieble just missed double-figures with nine points.
Andrew Green score a game high seventeen for the Cardinals.
The Bobcat boys are scheduled to host Clarion-Limestone on Wednesday (December 20th).
Girls Varsity: Punxsutawney 53 – Clarion 31
Punxsy led 24-29 at the half and set the final with a 24-12 second half advantage.
Taylor Alston led the Bobcats with sixteen points.
Avery Powell led the Chucks with a game high eighteen.
Girls Junior Varsity: Punxsutawney 27 – Clarion 6
Punxsy led 7-2 after one, 12-2 at halftime and 23-5 after three. A 4-1 Chucks’ edge in the fourth set the final.
Lacey Lauer led the Bobcats with 5 points, with Raina Awais contributing a successful free throw for the other point.
The Bobcat girls are scheduled to travel to Clarion-Limestone on Friday (December 22nd).
