Wildcats Wrestling Has A Hugely Successful Junior High Tournament

The Central Clarion Wildcats had a very successful Junior High Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, December 9th, with 19 teams and 227 wrestlers participating and a host of volunteers on hand to working to make this a great event for the kids.

This event which has taken place for roughly thirty years when the team was the Clarion Bobcats, and now

carrying on as the Wildcats Junior High Tournament, is one of the two major fundraisers for the program.

Wildcats Junior High Coach Mike LeFay shared this about the program’s financial benefit to the team this season, “Celebrating a significant achievement in raising over $7,000 for the Wildcats wrestling team.” The proceeds help with things such as, the new Wildcats mats, which can be seen in some photos, Varsity and Junior High wrestling singlets, camps and more.

Coach LeFey mentioned his, “Grateful acknowledgment to all volunteers and generous donors whose support contributed to the success of the event.”

He shared his thanks to those, without whose help this tournament wouldn’t have been successful, “thanks to the table workers for their essential contributions to the smooth running of the tournament. Heartfelt gratitude to the referees for their dedication and fair officiating.”

Many hands make the work light. “Reflecting on the collective effort and unity that makes the Wildcats wrestling community strong and resilient.”

Coach LeFey shared his thought on some of the fine individual performances of the Wildcats wrestlers:

Kudos to Mason Best Whitmer for an impressive 3-2 record at 115lbs.

Mason Best Whitmer finished 3-2 on the day.

Noteworthy improvement from Grayson Snyder, showcasing growth in the 122lb category.

Grayson Snyder showed much improvement from last year wrestling at 122.

Special mention to Jimmy Sprauge, securing a commendable 5th place in a challenging 145lb bracket.

Jimmy Sprauge finished 5th in a tough 145lb bracket.

Demetrius Peace exhibited skill at 170lbs with a 2-2 record and 2 pins. Owen Green’s stellar performance at 210lbs, boasting a 3-2 record with three impressive pins. Recognition to Owen Bohlander for securing a fourth-place finish in the competitive 210lbs bracket.

Acknowledging the efforts of each wrestler, including Cooper Macormac, Evan French, Zane Harle, Tate Allison, Jack Staley, Ben Naser, and Dylan Albertine.
