Bobcats Down Southern Fulton In PIAA Basketball Boys 1A First Round, Will Face Imani Christian At Armstrong High School On Tuesday; Ticket Information Below

The homestanding Clarion Area Bobcats downed the Southern Fulton Indians 75-50, in their Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Boys 1A Opening Round matchup on Friday (March 8th), in Coach Tom Lewis’ and the seniors last home game.

The Bobcats will now face District 7 (WPIAL) and defending state champion Imani Christian next Tuesday (March 12th) at 6:00p.m. Armstrong High School. Imani advanced with an 88-65 win over Union. Tickets must be purchased online at Hometown Ticketing: https://www.hometownticketing.com/

The Bobcats led 15-8 after one. With a 16-12 second period advantage, the Cats led 31-20 going into halftime.

Both teams had big offensive outputs in the third, with Southern Fulton having 21-20 edge. Devon Lauer scored 9 points in the frame, with Derek Smail adding 6 and Dawson Smail recording five points, as Clarion led 51-41 heading to the final stanza.

The Bobcats put the game away in the fourth with a 24-9 advantage. Ten Bobcats scored in the game.

Lauer scored a game high twenty-two points, including two treys. Also scoring in double-figures were Dawson Smail with 16, including a three-point bucket and Derek Smail with eleven.

Tanner Miller and Gabe Simko had eight points each, with Miller recording two long range baskets.

Jameson McIlwain recorded a trey, for his 3 points, with Bryce Brinkley also scoring three points. Mason Burford and Nathan Frederick had two points each and Owen Kriebel scored one.

Gary Mellot led Southern Fulton with 13 points, Hunter Ward had 11 and Jeff Burger scored ten.
