Baseball: Bobcats Down Oilers In Rain Shortened 5-1 Game
The Clarion Area Bobcats downed the homestanding Oil City Oilers, 4-1, in a District 9/District 10 crossover baseball game on Friday (April 3rd). The game was called after the top of the 5th inning, due to weather.
The Bobcats held the Oilers off the scoreboard in the top of the first and scored two runs in the bottom of the inning. Neither team scored in the second.
Oil City failed to score in their half of the third. A run by Clarion in their half of the inning, moved their lead to 3-0. A run by each team in the fourth, set the final score.
Tanner Miller doubled and scored a run for the Bobcats. Dawson Smail singled and scored twice. Derek Smail had one hit scored a run and had an RBI, while Noah Harrison singled and drove in a run.
Dauntae Girvan started on the mound, striking out 5 batters and allowing just 2 hits and one run, in four innings of work. Derek Smail picked up the win in relief, going one inning, with no runs allowed, striking out 2 batters and giving up a walk. Each pitcher walked one batter.
The 11-1-1 Bobcats are scheduled to travel to Cranberry tomorrow (Monday, May 6th).
