Bobcats Down Falcon-Knights In District Nine 1A Baseball Semifinal

The Clarion Area Bobcats defeated the Union/A-C Valley Falcon-Knights 10-0 in six innings, in their District Nine 1A Baseball semifinal matchup, on Thursday (May 23rd) at Showers Field in DuBois.

The win sets up a rematch of last year’s championship, won by the Bobcat, with the Cats facing the DuBois Central Catholic Cardinals, at 12:00 Noon, on Monday (May 27th – Memorial Day), at Showers.

The Bobcats used dominating pitching and solid hitting throughout.

Starting pitcher, Tanner Miller, who recorded his 100th strikeout during the contest, picked up the win, going five innings, allowing just two hits while striking out seven and walking three. Devon Lauer came on in relief, striking out two, giving up a hit and a walk.

Dauntae Girvan had a big day at the plate.

The Clarion hitters had 11 hits, five of them for extra bases, including a two run homer by Derek Lauer to end the game. He had four RBIs total.

Dawson Smail had a pair of doubles, scored 3 runs and drove in a run. Bryce Brinkley singled, doubled, scored twice and drove in three runs. Dauntae Girvan singled, doubled, scored a run and had an RBI.

Matt Alston had a single and scored a pair of runs. Noah Harrison singled and drove in a run. Miller and Wyatt Watterson each had a hit, while Ethan Rex scored a run.

The Cats are currently 17-2-1 on the season.
