Bobcat Linksters Finish Undefeated Regular Season With Mega Match Victory At Wanango

After clinching their sixth straight Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference Boys Golf Regular Season Championship, in Mega Match #8 at Clarion Oaks Golf Club on Thursday, September 12th, the Clarion Area Bobcats put the finishing touches on the regular season, with a win in Mega Match #9 at Wanango Country Club on Tuesday, September 17th.

With the win, the Bobcats moved to 9-0. They have been undefeated for 36 consecutive Mega Matches.

Clarion finished with a score of 215, nineteen shots ahead of Cranberry which recorded a 234 for second place.

The order of the rest of the teams: 3) Keystone (231), 4) A-C Valley/Union (238), 5) Moniteau (241), 6) Forest Area (257), 7) North Clarion (265), 8) Clarion-Limestone and Karns City (299).

Kam Kerle was the medalist for the seventh time this season, carding a 36, three strokes ahead of teammate Lucas Mitrosky, who shot a 36 to tie A-C Valley/Union’s Joe Rapp for second place.

Parker Miller recorded a 44 to finish in a three-way tie for tenth. Wyatt Watterson tied two other golfers for sixteenth with each recording a 46. Gabe Anderson and James Keenen finished in a three-way tie for 22nd at 50. With five scores used for each team’s score, either Anderson’s or Keenen’s score can be penciled in for the total.

The Top 10 individual scores looked like this: 1) Kam Kerle (36) – Clarion, 2) Lucas Mitrosky – Clarion and Joe Rapp – A-C Valley/Union (tie with 39), 4) Dalton Wenner – Cranberry and Sean Karg – Keystone (tie with 40, 6) Hudson Bliss – A-C Valley/Union and Connor Ealy – Moniteau (tie with 41), 8) Joey O’Donnell – Karns City and Braden Baylor – Keystone (tie with 43). 10) Parker Miller – Clarion, Dane Wenner – Cranberry and Talon Wilson – Keystone (three-way tie with 44).

The Bobcats have been undefeated for thirty-six Mega Matches.

For Clarion Area, Kerle’s first place total was 309, Lucas Mitrosky finished third at 343, James Keenen finished tied for fifth at 355 and Parker Miller rounded out the Bobcat’s Top 10 finishers with a 380. Wyatt Watterson finished sixxteenth at 403 and Gabe Anderson finished twenty-third at 421.

Kerle has had twenty-one Career KSAC Mega Match wins and was MVP in 2021, 2022 and 2023. This season’s MVP will be announced at a later date. The Bobcat seniors, Kerle, Mitrosky and Keenen have never lost a Mega Match in their careers.

Clarion Area assistant Coach Jackie Kerle shared, “Kam, Lucas and James have worked so hard on improving their golf skills over the past 4 years. They have traveled over the summer months to play in tournaments, which in our opinion helped them to become the players that they are today.

“These seniors have been the backbone of our team, consistently posting solid rounds. They have also been leaders to the other golfers on the team by encouraging and helping to push the younger players to improve.

“Wyatt, Parker and Gabe have all stepped up their game and helped us compete again this year.

“This team should be so proud of their accomplishments!

“Kam, Lucas and James have played and won 36 consecutive KSAC Mega Matches during their undefeated high school golf careers. Of these 36 wins, these 3 players captured 23 of them.”
