Bobcats Compete In Prestigious Cumberland Valley Girls Volleyball Tournament

The Clarion Bobcats, Pennsylvania’s #1 ranked Class A team, competed in the prestigious Cumberland Valley Girls Volleyball Tournament, At Cumberland Valley High School in Mechanicsburg on Saturday (September 21st).

The Cumberland Valley Tournament features some of the top Volleyball programs from around Pennsylvania, as evidenced by the Bobcats Pool: Allentown Central Catholic, ranked #2 in Class AAA in Pennsylvania, Dallastown #10 in Class AAAA, and Class AAAA Spring Grove. Also competing in Clarion Area’s Pool was Williamsport, Maryland.

Clarion dropped their match with Williamsport 2-1 (21-25, 25-21, 16-25). They defeated Spring Grove 2-1 (26-24, 20-25, 16-14). Allentown Central Catholic, the eventual champion, downed the Bobcats 2-0 (12-25, 15-25). Clarion fell to Dallastown 1-0 (22-25).

One of the pillars in the Bobcats’ success over the years has been to play in major tournaments with stiff competition, including quality larger schools, as well as scheduling some dual matches with larger quality programs. The Cumberland Valley Tournament certainly fits the bill.

Bobcats, Addiwyn Campbell and Natalie Durish turned in some very solid numbers for the tournament. Addiwyn dished out 50 assists, with 26 digs. She also had 11 points (2 aces) and a kill. Natalie contributed 41 digs, scored 10 points (1 ace) and handed out five assists.

Hadlee Campbell had 29 assists and 27 kills in addition to scoring 8 points (2 aces). Sophie Babington registered 15 points (1 ace), 20 digs and three kills. Lacey Lauer had 13 digs, scored 11 points (1 ace) and had three kills. Anna O’Toole scored 9 points to go along with 2 kills and three digs. Marley Kline knocked down 17 kills and gathered seven digs.

Aubrey Leonard recorded 3 points and three digs. Alivia Diehl had five digs and a kill and Ali Burford laid down five kills.
