Former Clarion Bobcats All-Stater, Member Of NCAA Division I St. Francis Red Flash Korrin Burns Earns Third Career NEC Women’s Volleyball Player Of The Week Award; Teammates Maggie Hogan And Alyssa Irwin Also Recognized

Korrin Burns, who was a three-time Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association (PVCA) All-Stater (2019-2021) and member of the Clarion Area Bobcats’ 2020 and 2021 Class 1A State Champions, now playing for the NCAA Division I St. Francis Red Flash was selected the Northeast Conference Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of September 2nd.

This is Korrin’s third career selection as Player of the Week, having won the award twice during the 2023-2024 season.

The North East Conference press release stated:

Burns anchored a Saint Francis U attacking line that combined for a league-leading .224 hitting percentage enroute to scoring a weekend sweep at the Red Flash Invitational. The Red Flash went 2-0 at their host tournament, scoring wins over Penn on Friday and Siena on Saturday. Burns had an outstanding week, leading all NEC players with 5.86 points and 4.86 kills per set while hitting .267 during that stretch. The junior outside hitter and Clarion, PA native’s weekend was highlighted by a near double-double performance consisting of nine digs and her first 20-kill outing of the season in a four-set triumph over Penn. She went on to contribute a match-high 14 kills against Siena, a straight-set triumph. Saint Francis U has now won three-in-a-row to even its record in non-conference play at 3-3. This is Burns’ third career NEC/Molten Player of the Week honor.

Korrin was joined by Red Flash Teammates, Maggie Hogan and Alyssa Irwin in receiving NEC/Molten awards.

After defeating Penn and Siena in last weekend’s Red Flash Classic, women’s volleyball has earned recognition from the Northeast Conference.

Korrin Burns was named NEC/Molten Player of the Week. Alyssa Irwin received her first NEC honors with NEC/Molten Rookie of the Week. Burns and Maggie Hogan received Prime Performer recognition.

In her return to the Red Flash lineup, Burns tallied a combined 34 kills in two wins for Saint Francis, leading Saint Francis in the sweep against Siena with 14 kills. She totaled four aces, with three over Siena. Defensively, she recorded one solo and one assisted block in both matches and combined for 12 digs.

Irwin led Saint Francis in blocks this weekend, tallying one solo and two assisted blocks in both wins against Penn and Siena. Additionally, she recorded a combined 11 kills.

Hogan totaled 30 kills in wins over Penn and Siena this weekend, including 21 against Penn for a .356 hitting percentage. She also tallied three service aces across the weekend. In the straight-set win over Siena, Hogan earned an assisted block. She recorded a combined 24 digs in the two wins, as well.

This is Hogan’s second Prime Performer recognition this season, making the list in back-to-back weeks.
