The Central Clarion Wildcats Girls Soccer Team fell to the Brookville Raiders 7-1, on Saturday, September 28th, at the Clarion-Limestone Field. The game was part of a Wildcats’ Senior Day double-header with the girls playing the first game and the boys playing next. Senior Recognitions took place between the games.

The Raiders led 4-1 at halftime.

Ashlyn Clark scored Clarion’s goal.

Ashlyn Clark scored the Wildcats’ goal with an assist by JJ Wilson. Clarion Coach Abbi Petroski had this to say about the goal, “Ashlyn came up from defense to take a direct kick from just outside the 18-yard box. She took the kick, stayed in the play when the ball leaked out of Brookville defense and put it in the back of the net off an off-target volley by JJ Wilson.”

Goal keeper Megan Powell had 16 saves.

Coach Petroski said, “Today we celebrated our seniors Olivia Hannold, Morgan Scheftic, JJ Wilson, Lindsay Amsler, Kaitlin Guth, Avery Faller, and Aoife Salusky.

“Hannold played one of her best games this season. She was after every loose ball and was taking great touches to space to be able to carry the ball and distribute to her teammates.

“With Kaitlyn Guth being out to injury, our defense is very young, but they continue to play hard and are learning every game the correct positions to be in.”

The Wildcat Girls are scheduled to travel to Elk County Catholic’s Angela Huey Field tomorrow (Monday, September 30th) to face the Crusaders.

(Keep up the good work, Wildcats!!!! Thanks to Susanne Fenski for her photos!!)
