Wildcats Cross Country Has Very Solid Meet With Karns City

The Central Clarion Wildcats Cross Country team hosted the Karns City Gremlins, at Clarion-Limestone, on Wednesday, September 4th.

Coach Nicole Oakes shared, “Coming off a phenomenal set of runs at Titusville last week, the Wildcat team was excited to host Karns City. Coach Rob Pennington is a great guy and we have been able to coordinate to get a couple of the kids from each team together for races a couple times over the summer.

We were blessed with another beautiful day for a race that was thankfully about 15 degrees cooler than last week.

The Central Clarion Varsity Girls, behind first place winner Addie Jackson, who ran a 20:58, came out on top.

Coach Oakes mentioned, “On the girls side, Adisen Jackson had her first season run that felt right, she was back up front leading our strong ladies team. Really our girls team is also very strong this season, Eliza, Julianna and Riese all falling in right after. The girls team finished over Karns City with a 17 to 43 victory.”

Hayden Weber finished first in the Varsity Boys race, with a clocking of 17:21. The Gremlins didn’t have enough runners to qualify for a team score.

“Before the varsity race, the anticipation was in seeing how the front of our line was going to stack up against their returning powerhouse, Griffin Booher. While our boys had to work, we were able to secure three of the top five spots. On the boys side, we are now feeling pretty good and hope to keep the momentum going going with our front 5 all being sub 19, and three of them being in that 17 minute range. The plan now is to keep it going and keep everyone healthy!”

Griffin Edmonds turned in a 10:58 to capture first place in the Junior High Boys race. Karns City didn’t have enough runners in this race for a team score.

Bryn Anderson ran a 12:37, tops in the Junior High Girls race. The Gremlins didn’t have enough runners for a team score.

About the the younger Wildcat runners, coach Oakes said “On the Junior High side, nearly all of our runners beat the times that they achieved last week. Notably, the Junior High boys took spots 1-4, however Karns City was one runner short of qualifying as a team.

“Griffin Edmonds and Jackson Baker were again leading the charge for us here finishing more than a minute before our strong number three runner Noah Fredrick. Mason Strattan also deserves a shout out this week shaving nearly three minutes from his time on this short 1.7 mile course in only one week’s time.

“For the Junior High girls, Karns City only had one runner to compete. Again here, almost all of our girls improved their times from last week. Bryn Anderson moved to our number one spot for this race and Hanna Love was not far behind her.”

Next up? “We are all looking forward to another invite this weekend as a part of our team will be traveling to West Middlesex to compete in the Big Red’s Invitational.”
