Wildcats Down Dutch In D9 Football League Region 1 Action

The Central Clarion Wildcats moved to 2-0 on the season, on Friday (August 30th) as they defeated the homestanding St. Marys Flying Dutchmen 49-6, in D9 Football League Region 1 action.

The Wildcats opened the scoring at 9:36 of the first quarter, when quarterback Jase Ferguson hit Ethan Rex on a six yard touchdown. Thomas Uckert hit the first of his seven, extra-points without a miss Central Clarion led 7-0.

The Wildcats extended their lead with a touchdown at 8:03, with Ferguson connecting with Mason Burford from thirty-eight yards out. With Uckert’s kick it was 14-0.

St. Marys cut into the lead at 3:38 of the first, on an eleven yard touchdown run by Andrew Field. The kick was blocked. 14-6 Central Clarion.

A six yard touchdown pass by Ferguson to Rex at 1:38, combined with Uckert’s PAT, had the Wildcats up 21-6.

Central would score again in the quarter, as Kohen Kemmer scored on a thirty-three yard pass from Ferguson, with just under a half minute on the clock. With Uckerts extra point, the Wildcats led 28-6.

The Wildcats would score a touchdown in each of the remaining stanzas.

Braylon Beckwith had a two yard run to paydirt at 5:46 in the second. And with the PAT Central Clarion led 35-6. Ferguson hit Rex from five yards out at 2:22 of the third, and the extra-point moved the score to 42-6.

The 49-6 final was set with 4:30 left in the game, with Harrison carrying the ball over from the Dutch four along with the PAT.

Central Clarion Coach Dave Eggleton said, “I feel like we were very inconsistent. At times we looked really good and other times we didn’t. As a staff, we need to do a better job of preparing this week to play a full game.”
