Erica Selfridge, who was an All-Stater and member of the Clarion Area Bobcats 2020 Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Class-A State Volleyball Championship team, has achieved a major milestone as she recorded her 1,000th career kill for the Slippery Rock University Rockets Women’s volleyball team.

Erica, who was also a three time All-Stater and member of the Bainbridge-Guilford (New York) High School State Championship teams in 2017 and 2018, where her mother Tami was the head coach.

Erica’s 1,000th kill came in a loss to homestanding Seton Hill, on Tuesday, October 1st.

Erica, who finished the night with 1,006 kills, became the just the eleventh player in SRU Women’s Volleyball history to record 1,000 kills.

Erica’s mother Tami shared this about her daughter, “I remember when Erica was beginning her college recruitment activity and I was pushing her to be a setter. At 5’6” she was better suited to be a setter or a defensive specialist. She told me she wanted to be a hitter and I told her she was too short.

“Well, I was wrong! She was definitely not too short. She goes up against some of the biggest blockers in the PSAC and to reach the 1,000 kill milestone is quite an achievement for anyone. I still think she would have made a great setter but definitely proud of the hitter she has become!”

(Congratulations, Erica!!!! You make everyone Clarion Proud!!!!)
