Korrin Burns Selected NEC/Molten Volleyball Player Of The Week

Former Clarion Area standout Korrin Burns, a junior Outside Hitter for the NCAA Division I Saint Francis Red Flash, was selected as the Northeast Conference (NEC) Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of October 14th.
This is her second time receiving the honor this season, having also won the award for the week of September 2nd, and her fourth time overall, having won it once in 2023 and once in 2024. In addition she was also named as a Prime Performer by the NEC, which she has won numerous times, in her career.

Korrin’s Player of the Week award follows her fine performance in the Red Flash’s back-to-back wins at Mercyhurst, on Friday evening, October 19th and Saturday afternoon, October 20th.
The Red Flash won Friday’s encounter with the Lakers 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-23). Korrin had 17 kills, 4 aces, 9 digs and a pair of digs in the win.
Saturday’s match saw St. Francis winning in straight sets again (25-12, 26-24, 25-23). Korrin turned in 8 kills, 4 aces and 6 digs in that encounter.
Also named Prime Performers were Korrin’s Red Flash teammates, Maggie Hogan, Alexandria Sappia and Laney Wilson.

Burns compiled 25 kills, eight aces, 15 digs and a pair of blocks to propel Saint Francis U to a pair of dominant victories at Mercyhurst this past weekend. The NEC’s leader in points (4.74 per set) and kills (4.04 per set) turned in a .333 hitting percentage while contributing league-best numbers in points (5.83 per set), kills (4.17 per set) and service aces (1.33 per set) over the weekend. The Clarion, PA native was exceptional in Friday’s 3-0 victory with four aces, nine digs and 17 kills, a season-best effort for a three-set match. This is Burns’ second NEC/Molten Player of the Week award of 2024. The Red Flash are on a roll as of late with consecutive series sweeps of Central Connecticut and Mercyhurst and five straight wins. They rank third in the conference standings behind Chicago State and FDU with a 5-1 record.

Women’s volleyball picked up a weekly award winner and four Prime Performers after sweeping Mercyhurst.
Korrin Burns is this week’s NEC/Molten Player of the Week. She is joined by Maggie Hogan, Alexandra Sappia and Laney Wilson as Prime Performers this week.
Burns tallied 25 kills, eight aces, two solo blocks and 15 digs on the weekend. The junior remains top in the conference in kills per set (4.04) and points per set (4.74). She also sits fourth in aces per set (.49).
Hogan earned a combined 23 kills, two aces, one solo block and 10 digs. She remains first in kills (214) and points (248) and second in kills per set (3.34) and points per set (3.88).
Against the Lakers, Wilson recorded seven solo blocks and 10 kills. She also had a .462 attacking percentage on Friday.
Sappia tallied 67 assists, three aces and 12 digs. She is second in the NEC in assists per set (7.08) and first in aces per set (.61).
