Wildcats Down Rovers In D9 Football League Region 1 Action

The Central Clarion Wildcats downed the visiting Brockway Rovers 63-0 in a District 9 Region 1 contest on A.L.F. Friday (October 4th) at Clarion Area’s Wiser Field.

The Wildcats scored 7 points in the first quarter and 42 in the second. The second half, which was played under a Mercy Rule running clock, saw Central Clarion score 7 more points in each quarter.

Ethan Rex scored the Wildcats’ first touchdown on a 2 yard pass over the middle from quarterback Jase Ferguson. Thomas Uckert’s extra point kick was good and Central led 7-0 at 7:17 of the first. Thomas was good on all eight points after touchdown in the contest.

The Wildcats’ second score came when Ferguson hit Jesse Siwiecki, who was wide open on a post pattern from fifty-nine yards out. With Uckert’s point after, Central led 14-0 at nine seconds into the second quarter.

Ferguson was involved in eight of the Wildcats’ touchdowns (6 passing, 1 rushing, 1 interception) on the the night.

A minute and fifteen seconds later, Central Clarion hit paydirt again, with Noah Harrison taking the ball in on a shovel pass by Ferguson, from the Rovers’ two yard line. With the successful kick, the score moved to 21-0.

The next score came at 8:32 of the third, with Ferguson connecting with Siwiecki on another long touchdown pass covering sixty-four yard. Siwiecki caught the ball in stride on a post pattern at about the Rovers’ twenty and took it the rest of the way. The PAT upped the Wildcats’ score total to twenty-eight.

Central Clarion’s point total moved to thirty-five, at 5:04, when Ferguson hit Rex for on the left side, at about the opponent’s five, with Rex taking it the rest of the way for a 16 yard touchdown, combined with the PAT.

Kohen Kemmer took the ball in on a one yard reception from Ferguson at 1:14 and with the kick the Wildcats point total was forty-two. That score was followed by a Ferguson interception twenty seconds later, that went down the left side for a thirty-two yard touchdown. The extra point moved the score to 49-0.

Ferguson had a twenty yard touchdown run down the right side with 2:12 left in the third and with Uckert’s last PAT of the contest Central now had fifty-six points.

The final 63-0 score was set at 7:47 of the fourth, with quarterback Carter Hindman hitting Brody Beggs on a sixteen yard score and Brenden Bettwy’s subsequent kick.

Central Clarion had 434 total yards (297 passing and 137 rushing).

Some key Wildcat stats:

Ferguson completed 18 of 27 passes for 281 yards, 6 touchdowns and no interceptions, and ran for 83 yards on eight carries. Siwiecki had 125 receiving yards on three catches. Kemmer caught five passes for sixty-three yards.

Rex had 4 catches for thirty-two yards. Beggs had 3 carries for 30 yards and a reception for sixteen. Braylon Beckwith had 3 catches for thirty-seven yards. Harrison had 2 carries for 19 yards and caught 3 passes for 24 yards and a touchdowns. Uckert finished 8-for-8 on extra points.
