Bobcats Down Warriors To Clinch KSAC Boys Basketball Regular Season Crown, Earning First Seed In Championship Tournament
The Clarion Area Bobcats clinched the Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference Boys Basketball Regular Season Championship with a convincing 68-38 win over the visiting Moniteau Warriors on Tuesday (February 11th).
This is the first regular season KSAC Boys Basketball Championship for Clarion in 25 years. The last conference championship came in 1999-2000.
The Bobcats led 13-7 after one period and followed that by outscoring the Warriors 22-10 in the second, for a 35-17 halftime lead.
A 23-9 Bobcat edge in the third had them on top 58-26 headed to the fourth. Moniteau outscored the Cats by two, 12-10 to set the final.
Three Bobcats finished in double-figures, Nate Frederick with 19, Mason Burford with 13 and Dylan Smail with ten. Nate and Mason each had a bucket from beyond the arc, with Dylan canning two treys.
Parker Miller had 9 points and Wyatt Watterson scored 8, including two 3-point baskets. Derek Smail contributed 8 points and Quinn O’Neill had two.
Conner Ealy led the Warriors with 10 points, with two baskets coming from downtown.
Clarion head coach Sam Heeter said, “I’m glad that we were able to be the regular season KSAC champions, but the work isn’t finished yet. I’m looking forward to this weekend, and seeing how we fare in the KSAC tournament.”
