(By Matt Lerch) The Clarion Comets Indoor Track and Field Team travelled to the Youngstown State University Meet #3 on Saturday February 8th, 2025. Again, the weather kept some away but eight of the Comets competed in Youngstown, increasing their skills to start their respective outdoor track and field seasons in the spring.
Coach Tammy Lerch led the Clarion Comets against over 50 track and field teams and clubs. The Comets’ athletes this Saturday were represented by Clarion Area, Clarion-Limestone, A-C Valley, Redbank Valley and Union.
Eliza Datko tripled in the 800m, 1600m and 3200m. Her 1600m placed her in the top 25 earning a 21st place finish and her 3200m was not only a Personal Record but she came in 7th place after running the first two races. Avery Ortz placed 24th in a very competitive 60m hurdles competition with a new PR and she also competed in the long jump. Megan Powell competed in the 60m, long jump and triple jump.
Aiden Fox placed 22nd in the 200m, an impressive performance in a crowded field and he also placed 23rd in the long jump and 9th in the triple jump.

Josh Turner competed in the 800m and 1600m. Isaac Lerch ran the 60m and placed 22nd in the long jump. Two pole vaulters, Hudson Bliss and Harrison Bliss competed with new PRs for both, Hudson pole vaulting into 22nd place.

The Comets wrap up their indoor season at the Youngstown State University Meet #4 on February 15th at YSU’s WATTS Center.
