Korrin Burns Named North East Conference (NEC) Women’s Volleyball Fall Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Former Clarion Area standout Korrin Burns, a 5’11” Outside Hitter has achieved another major honor during her illustrious volleyball and academic career with the NCAA Division I St. Francis University Red Flash, being named this past season’s North East Conference (NEC) Women’s Volleyball Fall Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

SOMERSET, N.J. – Women’s volleyball’s Korrin Burns has been named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Women’s Volleyball Fall Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the conference announced Friday.

Burns, a native of Clarion, Pa., is the second women’s volleyball player to receive this award with Elise Dumouchelle winning the award in 2019.

“Korrin continues to prove that you can be successful, both academically and athletically, while competing at a high level and being in a demanding major,” head coach Sara Spielvogel said. “I am so proud of the hard work and dedication Korrin puts into her teammates. She is very deserving of this award.”

A physical therapy major, Burns earned a 3.811 grade point average in the fall and boasts a 3.817 overall GPA. She is also a two-time member of the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team.

This season, the junior outside hitter appeared in 23 matches for the Red Flash, recording 342 kills, 18 assists, 38 service aces, 161 digs and 29 blocks, helping her team make the NEC Championship Tournament Semifinals. Burns also led the conference in kills per set (4.07) and points per set (4.74).

Burns has been named NEC First-Team All-Conference twice and was placed on the Eastern College Athletic Conference’s (ECAC) All-ECAC Second Team this year.
