Baseball/Softball: Bobcats Down Gremlins, Wildcats Fall To Warriors

The Clarion Area Bobcats baseball team and Central Clarion Wildcats softball teams were both in action on Monday, April 7th, with the Bobcats downing the Karns City Gremlins 14-4 in five innings, at Showers Field in DuBois and the Wildcats falling to the homestanding Moniteau Warriors 11-7.

BASEBALL 

The Bobcats were the home team in this one.

Karns City opened with a run in the top of the first, but the Bobcats answered by pushing across 6 runs in the bottom of the inning and another in the bottom of the second. The Gremlins scored their final 3 runs in the top of the third. Seven Bobcat runs in the fourth set the final score.

Noah Harrison had 2 hits, an RBI and two runs scored for the Bobcats. Wyatt Watterson doubled, drove in 2 runs and scored a pair. Parker Miller singled twice, scored a run and plated two runners. Dylan Smail and Derek Smail each doubled and had an RBI and scored a run.

Ethan Rex singled, drove in two runners and scored a run. Billy Kahle singled, scored 1 run and had an RBI. Hayden Weber drove in a run and scored twice and Gabe Anderson drove in a run.

Dylan Smail picked up the win, giving up no runs on 3 hits while striking out three.

The Bobcats are scheduled to play at Keystone, beginning at 4:00 p.m. tomorrow (Wednesday, April 9th).

SOFTBALL

The Wildcats opened the game with a run in the top of the first, but the Warriors answered with 4 runs in the bottom of the inning. Each team scored 2 runs in the second, with Central Clarion scoring a run in the third.

No runs were scored in the fourth. The fifth inning saw the Wildcats scoring 2 runs and Moniteau plating five. Central Clarion scored the game’s last run in the sixth.

JJ Wilson had 3 hits for the Wildcats, while driving in a run and scoring once. Ashlyn Clark had 3 hits and scored twice.Samantha Simpson doubled, drove in a run and scored a run.

Emileigh Mahle scored once. Alicyn Burford and Karleigh Mahle each crossed the plate once.

The Wildcats are scheduled to travel to Redbank Valley tomorrow (Wednesday, April 9th). First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.
