Baseball/Softball: Bobcats, Wildcats Record Wins
The Clarion Area Bobcat baseball and Central Clarion Wildcat softball teams were both winners in home games played on Thursday, April 17th.
The Bobcats downed the North Clarion Wolves 15-0 in 3 innings, while the Wildcats came away with a 13-3, 6 inning win over the Union/A-C Valley Falcon Knights the Redbank Valley Bulldogs 6-4 at Heindl Field in DuBois.
BOBCATS BASEBALL
Clarion’s scored 11 runs in the first and a pair of run in each of the next two innings.
Derek Smail had two hits, including a home run, scored twice and drove in three for the Bobcats. Noah Harrison also had a round-tripper. He also had single, scored twice and plated two runners. Billy Kahle recorded 2 singles, 2 runs scored and an RBI. Wyatt Watterson doubled, scored a run and drove in a run. Dylan Smail singled, scored 2 runs and had an RBI.
Carter Hindman had a two-bagger, scored a run and had an RBI. Ethan Rex tripled scored a run and drove one in. He was also the winning pitcher. Kason Kiehl had 1 hit, scored a run and drove in a run. Andrew Martz had a hit and drove in two runs.Wyatt Aaron singled and drove in a run.
Hayden Weber singled. Gabe Anderson and Parker Miller each scored a run, and Patrick Durish drove in a run.
The Bobcats are scheduled to host DuBois, at Clarion County Park on Tuesday (April 22nd). First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
WILDCATS SOFTBALL
Central Clarion scored 2 runs in bottom of the first. Neither team scored in the second. Union/A-C Valley had a pair of runs in the third inning to tie the game 2-all and the falcon nights took a 3-2 lead, with their last run in the top of the fourth. The Wildcats exploded, with seven runs in the bottom of the inning and ended the contest with four runs in the sixth.
Emeliegh Mahle tripled and doubled, and scored two runs for the Wildcats. Samantha Simpson doubled, scored a pair of runs and drove in three. JJ Wilson had a pair of singles and an RBI. Elizabeth Estadt had a double, scored a run and drove in a run.Megan Powell had a double and crossed the plate twice.
Jenna Dunn had a hit and scored two runs. She was also the winning pitcher, going 5 innings, while striking out 3, walking 3 and allowing just the three runs.
Alicyn Burford and Ashlyn Clark each singled, and scored a run. Karlee Mahle scored twice.
The Wildcats are scheduled to visit Lakeview on Monday (April 21st). The game is set for Lakeview Middle School, with the first pitch set for 4:15 p.m.
