Softball/Baseball: Wildcats Drop Close Contest To Gremlins, Bobcats Fall To Beavers

The Clarion Area Bobcat baseball and Central Clarion Wildcat softball team and the Clarion Area baseball teams both dropped their games played on Tuesday, April 22nd.

The Wildcats fell to the homestanding Karns City Gremlins, 5-4, while the Bobcats dropped an 8-1 decision to the visiting DuBois Beavers at Clarion County Park.

WILDCATS SOFTBALL

This was a close game throughout.

The Gremlins opened the scoring with a run in the bottom of the second.

The Wildcats tied the game at 1-all with a run in the top of the fourth as Samantha Simpson singled and later scored on a single by Alicyn Burford.

Central Clarion and took a 2-1 lead with a run in the fifth, as Karlee Mahle drew a walk and later came around to score. Karns City scored 3 runs in the sixth, for a 4-2 lead.

An Emileigh Mahle home run in the top of the seventh closed out the scoring.

JJ Wilson had a single for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats are scheduled to host Johnsonburg tomorrow (Thursday, April 24th).

BOBCATS BASEBALL

The Beavers opened the scoring with a run in the top of the first. Neither team scored in the second. DuBois added 3 runs in the third, to stretch their lead to 4-0. The fourth saw no runs scored, with the Beaver scoring 3 runs and the Bobcats one run in the fifth, making the score 7-1, DuBois. The Beavers closed out the scoring with a run in the top of the sixth.

Dylan had a double to drive in Wyatt Watterson, for Clarion’s run. Hayden Weber also doubled. Parker Miller had a pair of singles.

Miller pitched three innings, allowing 4 runs, giving up 4 hits, with 1 strikeout and two walks. Derek Smail had 4 innings, in relief, striking out 10 and giving up no walks. He allowed 4 runs and four hits.

The Bobcats are scheduled to face the Lions at C-L today (Wednesday, April 23rd).
