Bobcats Down Crusaders 2-1 in D9 1A Baseball Semifinal
The Clarion Area Bobcats downed the Elk County Catholic Crusaders 2-1 in the District Nine Class-1A Baseball semifinals at Stern Field, in DuBois on Friday (May 23rd).
After holding ECC scorless in the top of the first, Clarion scored their two runs in the bottom of the inning.
Dylan Smail had a leadoff double. With one out Derek Smail had a single that moved Dylan to third. Hayden Weber drew a walk to load the bases and Ethan Rex brought in Dylan and Derek with a double. That was all the scoring until the Crusaders managed their run in the top of th fifth. Neither team scored after that.
Wyatt Watterson had a double and Noah Harrison had a single for the Bobcats during the contest.
Derek started the game and went 5 innings to pick up the win, allowing just the one run. He scattered 7 hits, striking out 3 batters and walking one battter.
Dylan worked the final 2 innings, not allowing a run.
The Bobcats are now set to face DuBois Central Catholic for the championship, on Monday (May 26th, Memorial Day), at Showers Field in DuBois.
