Bobcats Fall To Cardinals In D9 Class-1A Baseball Championship Game
The Central Clarion Bobcats fell to the DuBois Central Catholic Cardinals 4-1 in the District-Nine Class 1A Baseball Championship Game held at Showers Field in DuBois, on Memorial Day (Monday, May 26th).
The Bobcats were the visitors in this contest.
The Cardinals scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and another in the third.
Derek Smail had a solo home run in the fourth for Clarion’s run. They were the Bobcats’ only hits in the game.
Ethan Rex started the game for the Bobcats, going 2 2/3 innings, throwing 5 strikeouts and allowing three hits. Dylan Smail had 3 1/3 innings in relief, giving up 1 hit, while striking out two batters.
Marek Hoyt had 2 hits and three RBIs for the Cardinals. Ayden Snowberger threw eight strikeouts in picking up the complete game win.
Clarion will face the District 7 champion, either Serra Catholic or Carmichaels in the opening round of the PIAA State playoffs, next Monday (June 2nd), site and time to be determined.
