Mini Golf And Dine & Donate Events To Benefit Clarion County Special Olympics Set For This Weekend

There will be two special fundraising events held during the Clarion Summerfest, to benefit Clarion County Special Olympics.

The first event will be Miniature Golf, on Saturday (July 5th) from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The course provided by Steel City Mobile Mini Golf, will be set up on South 6th Avenue just off of Main Street. Everyone is invited to play for a donation.

The second fundraiser is a Dine & Donate event, to take place on Sunday (July 6th), at Clarion River Brewing Company, also at the corner of South 6th and Main.

Ten percent of all food sales designated for Clarion County Special Olympics will go directly to the local organization. You and your party must let your server know that you intend to donate.

SOPA Clarion offers their athletes, who hail from throughout the county, various sports, including basketball, volleyball, powerlifting, bowling and golf. They compete in Western Regional and State competitions.

This, has already been a busy week for the athletes and coaches, as they took part in the Grand Opening of the new Sheetz in Monroe Township, on Route 68 at the former Ramada Inn site.

A number of the athletes participated, with Vanessa Larson doing a fine presentation on some of the great things Clarion County Special Olympics has going on.

The big highlight of the Grand Opening was when the athletes accepted a $2,500 donation for all of Pennsylvania Special Olympics, from Emily Sheetz.
