Rumble on the Rio Powerlifting Meet Fundraiser For Clarion County Special Olympics Held

The Rumble on the Rio Powerlifting Meet, a fundraiser for Clarion County Special Olympics was held on Saturday, July 19th, at Forell-Barbell in Marianne. There were a number of big lifts and personal records registered during the contest.
Referee John Tibbs shared, “The second annual Rumble on the Rio was a tremendous success!
“Huge thanks to our sponsors and special guest, world record bench presser Jimmy Kolb, for making the event unforgettable. Our volunteers and lifters alike had a blast.
“We were especially inspired by the incredible efforts of the Special Olympics athletes — their strength and spirit truly made our day.
“Congrats to our champions, with standout lifts including a 265 lb bench and 365 lb deadlift for our top female, and a 415 lb bench and 650 lb deadlift for our top male. Exhibition lifts topped out at a 480 bench and a 705 deadlift.
“Can’t wait for next year!”
Tanya Brooks-Walker, meet director and coach mentioned, “I’m excited for the future of this annual charity event that supports the Clarion County Special Olympics team of athletes.
“Fantastic weekend of powerlifting at the Second Annual Rumble on the Rio sponsored by Forell-Barbell. We had several personal records set by our crew of teen lifters, Special Olympic Athletes and adult competitors!
“Clarion County Special Olympics athletes, Ezra’s Brooks and Nicholas Tibbs each set two new competition personal records. Ezra’s competion PRs were: 160 lb bench and 275 lb deadlift and Nicholas’ competition PRs were: 170 lb bench press and 305 lb deadlift.
“Thank you to the amazing team of volunteers that helped to make this event run so efficiently!
“We’ve had nothing but positive feedback from spectators and competitors! Thank you to the amazing Washington-Greene County Special Olympics powerlifting team, coaches and parents for joining the Rumble again this year!
