Rumble on the Rio Powerlifting Meet Fundraiser For Clarion County Special Olympics Held

The Rumble on the Rio Powerlifting Meet, a fundraiser for Clarion County Special Olympics was held on Saturday, July 19th, at Forell-Barbell in Marianne. There were a number of big lifts and personal records registered during the contest.

Referee John Tibbs shared, “The second annual Rumble on the Rio was a tremendous success!

“Huge thanks to our sponsors and special guest, world record bench presser Jimmy Kolb, for making the event unforgettable. Our volunteers and lifters alike had a blast.

“We were especially inspired by the incredible efforts of the Special Olympics athletes — their strength and spirit truly made our day.

“Congrats to our champions, with standout lifts including a 265 lb bench and 365 lb deadlift for our top female, and a 415 lb bench and 650 lb deadlift for our top male. Exhibition lifts topped out at a 480 bench and a 705 deadlift.

Overall Winner: John Paul, with a 415 lb bench, 650 lb deadlift

“Clarion County Special Olympics athletes, Ezra’s Brooks and Nicholas Tibbs each set two new competition personal records. Ezra’s competion PRs were: 160 lb bench and 275 lb deadlift and Nicholas’ competition PRs were: 170 lb bench press and 305 lb deadlift.
