Korrin Burns Selected NEC/Molten Women’s Volleyball Player Of The Week For The Fifth Time This Season; Korrin And Alexandra Sappia Named Week 7 Prime Perfomers

The Northeast Conference (NCAA Division I) announced their NEC/Molten Women’s Volleyball Awards for Week 7, on Tuesday, October 13th and former Clarion Area Bobcat standout Korrin Burns, now a member of the Saint Francis University Red Flash was named the NEC/Molten Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week.
This is Korrin’s fifth time (the conference lead) to be so named this season, having won the award in weeks 1 through 3 and 5. The senior Outside Hitter now has nine NEC/Molten Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week awards in her career, surpassing Megan Taliaferro, who held the Saint Francis record since 1997, and passed Skyler Eicher with the most NEC Player of the Year awards. Korrin sits in fifth all-time in NEC Player of the Week awards.
Korrin was named for her play against Mercyhurst at home on Tuesday, October 7th and against New Haven (Connecticut), at New Haven on Friday and Saturday, October 10th and 11th.
The Red Flash, who are now 7-0 in NEC play, downed downed Mercyhurst in straight sets (25-21, 25-17, 25-15). Korrin had 22 kills in that contest.
Saint Francis won both matches with New Haven. They won in four sets on Friday (25-21, 16-25, 25-22, 25-22). Korrin amassed 21 kills, 9 digs, 2 blocks and two aces.
On Saturday, the Red Flash won in straight sets (25-23, 25-21, 25-18). Korrin’s totaled 21 kills and 3 blocks.
For the week, Korrin had 64 kills, 9 digs, 3 blocks and two aces. She now has 19 career games with 20+ kills.
Korrin is currently ranked second in the nation in total kills (363), is second in points (391.5), third in kills per set (5.26) and sixth in points per set (5.67).
Alexandra, a Redshirt junior Setter had 42 assist and a block against Mercyhurst, 40 assists and three aces in Friday’s match with New Haven and 41 assists on Saturday, for an impressive three match total of 123 assists. She also recorded a block and an ace.
Alexandra now has eleven games with 40 or more assists.
Others to win Top Awards were: Farliegh Dickinson’s Kyndal Ganoe – NEC/Molten Defensive Player of the Week and Farliegh Dickinson’s Alessia Zampieri – NEC/Molten Rookie of the Week.
