Saint Francis University Red Flash Standout Korrin Burns Named NEC/Molten Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week For Sixth Time This Season, Joined By Kori McClure and Alexandra Sappia As Prime Performers

In a press release on Tuesday, October 28th the NCAA Division I Northeast Conference announced their Women’s Volleyball NEC/Molten Top Award Winners and Prime Performers for the week ending on Saturday, October 25th. And for the sixth time this season, former Clarion Area standout, Korrin Burns, a member of the Saint Francis University Red Flash was named Player of the Week.

This is also the tenth time in her career that she was named the NEC/Molten Player of the Week.

She also is joined by Kori McClure and Alexandra Sappia on the Prime Performers list. The trio was named after sterling performances against homestanding Fairleigh Dickinson University at the Bogata Savings Bank Centerin Hackensack, New Jersey, on Friday and Saturday.

The Red Flash won in five sets (25-27, 25-21, 20-25, 25-15, 16-14) in Friday’s encounter.

They fell in straight sets (20-25, 22-25, 27-29) in Saturday’s matchup.

On Friday, Korrin, a senior Outside Hitter, registered 26 kills, 13 digs and a block.

Kori, a senior Middle Blocker had 4 aces and a block.

Alexandra, a junior Setter, had 52 assists, 10 digs and four aces. Korrin reached a milestone with her twentieth match with 20+ kills and recorded her twenty-first double-double during the weekend.

On Saturday, Korrin had 17 kills and a two blocks. Alexandra handed out 52 assists, to go along with 10 digs and four aces. She recorded a milestone tenth match with fifty or more assists.

Kori recorded 8 kills, 5 aces and 5 digs.

Red Flash Head Coach Sara Speilvogel said, “These three have been our backbone all season long. They have come up big in big games and have been consistently some of the top performers in our conference.”

Joining Korrin for Top Awards were Defensive Player of the Week, Angela Marchetto and Rookie of the Week, Alessia Zampieri, both from FDU.
