Wildcats Down Owls At Wiser Field On Clarion Area Homecoming Night

The Central Clarion Wildcats were victorious on Clarion Area’s Homecoming Night at Wiser Field, downing the Bradford Owls 86-0. The win keeps the Wildcats’ district playoff hopes alive.

The Wildcats scored their on their first possession.

On the first play following a Bradford punt, Mason Burford took a shuttle pass from quarterback Carter Hindman down the right sideline for a 20 gain to the Owl twenty-five.

The next play was a mirror image of that one. This time with Burford taking the shuttle pass down the left sideline, but the ball came out of his hands at around the ten yard line and right into the hands of Hayden Hindman, who ran the ball into the endzone for the touchdown. Logan Bish was good on the point after and the Wildcats led 7-0 at 9:21 of the first quarter.

At 6:30 of the first, Carter Hindman hit Burford with another shuttle pass from the Bradford six. Burford took it over the right side for the score and with Bish’s PAT Central Clarion led 14-0.

On the first play from scrimmage, after Bradford was stopped on downs at their own forty-one, Ethan Rex ran the ball down the left side for twenty-yards. The Wildcats extended their lead on the next play, with Ethan Rex running the ball down the right side and in, at 4:05. With Bish’s extra-point, the Wildcats led 28-0.

Central Clarion closed out the first quarter with Jackson Mranvintz taking the ball in from 21 yards, on an end around down the right side at 1:43. Coupled with Bish’s point after, the Wildcats led 28-0.

The Wildcats’ next score was set up by a 50 yard pass reception by Brady Guth from Carter Hindman. Guth hauled the ball in in the middle of the field at about the Owls’ twenty-two. He ran it to the five before he was stopped.

Alex Love carried it through the middle and in on the next play. Bish was good on the PAT and with 10:41 on the second quarter clock, the Wildcats led 35-0.

Carter Hindman scored down the left side, from 28 yards out, on a keeper. Bish’s point after had Central Clarion up 42-0 at 7:54.

Later, Billy Kahle intercepted a pass and ran it to the Bradford seventeen. Guth took it the rest of the way on the next play. Bish – good: Wildcats up 49-0 at 6:10.

Hayden Hindman caused a fumble that was picked up by Brendan Bracken recovered the ball at the Owls’ nine. Hayden Hindman set up in the backfield and took the handoff from Carter Hindman and took through the middle, to around the six. Then another player who is normally on the line, Brendan Bracken set up in the backfield, carrying it through the middle for a one yard gain.

Carter Hindman hit Briggs Beckwith with a shuttle pass and Beckwith took it through the middle untouched and the extra-point by Bish made the score 56-0 at 5:56.

Charlie Hepfl had the Wildcats last touchdown, a 4 yard run to the left, with forty-eight seconds on the clock. Bish was good again and the score going into halftime was 63-0.

The Clarion Area Homecoming Festivities at halftime saw Lauren Brinkley crowned as King and Mason Burford crowned as King.

The Queen and King received their crowns from last year’s Queen and King, Sophie Babington and Carter Brown.

The second half began with Rex taking the kickoff at his own thirty-five and taking the ball to the right side, cutting in and down the left sideline for the score. He broke several tackles on the electrifying return.

Bish again was good and the Wildcats led 70-0.

Two freshman accounted for the next score. Tyson Hooks ran the ball in, untouched through the left side from three yards out on a pitch from Ethan Ferguson, with four minutes left in the third and Bish was good again – Wildcats 86-0.

The game’s final touchdown came with Hunter Lechner taking the ball over the middle from four yards on a handoff from Ferguson. Kahle ran through the middle for the two-point conversion to set the final.

The Wildcats are scheduled to travel to DuBois on Thursday (October 16th)
