Former Clarion Area Bobcat All-Stater Korrin Burns, who recently finished her playing career with the Saint Francis University Red Flash has earned another major recognition, being named to the 2025 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball All-America Team.

Korrin was as an Honorable Mention selectee at Outside Hitter.

The Team consists of 14 players each on the First, Second and Third Teams and 57 Honorable Mention members, for a total of ninety-nine members.

So Korrin is considered by the AVCA to be one of the top hundred players in DI Women’s Volleyball.

To consider the magnitude of Korrin’s being selected consider this. Doing a Google search, I have seen estimates of roughly 5,000 – 6,000 athletes (17 or 18 player rosters) playing DI Women’s Volleyball. With the All-America Team consisting of ninety-nine players, the odds of being selected are staggering.

Using the 5,000 figure it would be .00198; with the 6,000 it would be .00165.

Amazing!

Korrin is the third Red Flash player named to the AVCA Women’s team. In 2021, Madi Tyus was named to the Second Team and Maddy Sgattoni received Honorable Mention.

On the season, Korrin set the single-season program for kills with 588 and broke the Saint Francis career mark with 1,453 kills. She finished her career with seven of the top eight single-game kill performances in program history, including of this season, which included an NEC Tournament record 28 kills against Fairleigh Dickinson University in the NEC Semifinals on November 21st.

Korrin is the only Saint Francis Women’s Volleyball player record 30 kills, a feat she accomplished twice in her career. She recorded 30 kills in the Red Flash’s five set match with Sienna on September 5th. The first time she passed the milestone was in a four set win against Fairleigh Dickinson in 2023, where she set the program record, 34 kills.

She is second in career hitting percentage (.216), fifth in total attacks (3,582), and eighth in service aces (104) for the Red Flash. She was named NEC Player of the Week eight times in 2025 and 12 times in her career and ranks among the NCAA Division I best in kills, kills per set, points, and points per set.

During Korrin’s career, Saint Francis compiled a 61-49 overall record and a 44-14 mark in NEC Conference play. The team made it to the NEC Tournament all four years.

Korrin was joined on the First Team by her Red Flash teammate, redshirt junior, Alexandra Sappia, who was named as the Setter. Alexandra and Korrin are also the first in Saint Francis University Women’s Volleyball history to be named All-ECAC in the same year, let a lone First Team in the same season.

Red Flash Coach Sara Spielvogel shared this, “As the women’s volleyball season is coming to a close, more and more prestigious awards are being released. Given the season and career Korrin had here, we are thrilled and proud, but again not shocked to see her name on the AVCA All-American’s List.

“The AVCA All-Americans List is very elite and selective and such a huge honor and compliment for Korrin’s hard work and accomplishments to be recognized and to be placed on it.”

(Congratulations on receiving this Wonderful Recognition, Korrin!!!!)

(Note: On Korrin, along with Red Flash teammates Alexandra Sappia and Kori McClure, was named to the College Sports Communicators, formerly CoSIDA, Academic All-District Team. Congratulations to all three!!)
