Boys Basketball: Bobcats Down Fires And Raiders

The Clarion Bobcats Boys basketball team came out on top in two recent contests.

The downed the homestanding Forest Area Fires 66-42, at Marienville, on Friday (January 16th) and followed that up with a two-point 57-55 win over the Brookville Raiders, at home on Monday (January 19th).

Forest Area 

The Bobcats led 24-6 after one period and with an 18-8 edge in the second, they led 42-14 at the half.

The third quarter saw Clarion outscoring Fires 18-15 to take a 60-29 lead into the fourth, where a 13-4 Forest Area edge set the final.

Nathan Frederick led the scoring for the Bobcats, with 17, including a long range bucket. Dylan Smail also scored in double-figures with fourteen. Parker Miller had eight points.

Quinn O’Neal, Trey Hooks and Mason Burford had six points each. Hayden Weber scored 5 points and Wyatt Watterson had a trey as he finished with four points.

Antonio Campbell led the Fires with a game high twenty-three points.

Brookville  

Clarion led by two, 17-15 after one. Brookville had a 21-11 edge in the second to lead 36-28 at halftime.

A 15-11 Bobcat advantage in the third period cut the Raiders’ lead to just four points, 47-44 heading to the last stanza, where a 14-8 Bobcat edge set the final.

Frederick, again was the Bobcats’ leading scorer, with a game high twenty-three points. Burford also scored in double figures with ten.

Watterson had another three-point bucket as part of his nine points.

O’Neal scored 7 points, Smail had 6 points, Miller posted 4 points and Trey Hooks followed with three.

Josh Semeyn scored fifteen points for the Raiders.

The Bobcats are scheduled to travel Knox, to play the Keystone Panthers on Friday (January 23rd).
