Boys Basketball: Bobcats Go 1 and 1 In Past Weekend Games
The Clarion Area Bobcats boys basketball team had a pair of games this past weekend, going 1 and 1.
On Friday (January 23rd), they defeated the Keystone Panthers 36-52 at Keystone, as part of the Hoops for Hope Cancer Awareness and Survivor Recognition event. On Saturday (January 24th), the Bobcats fell to the Elk County Catholic Crusaders 52-23 at PennWest Clarion’s Tippin Gymnasium.
Clarion – Keystone
The Bobcats led 20-6 after one period and with a 16-11 edge in the second, they held a 36-17 lead at the half. With a 10-7 Panthers’ advantage in the third, Clarion led 43-27 heading to the final stanza, where each team put up 9 points to set the final.
Nathan Frederick and Mason Burford led the Bobcats’ scoring with fifteen points apiece. Parker Miller followed with nine points.
Quinn O’Neal and Trey Hooks followed with 4 points apiece, Wyatt Watterson had 3 points, with Hayden Weber scoring two points.
Frederick, Burford and Watterson each had a three-point basket.
Dom Corcetti led the Panthers with twenty-three points. He scored his 1,000th career point during the contest.
Clarion – Elk County Catholic
The Crusaders had a 16-7 edge after one, and with an 8-4 edge in the second, their lead was 24-11. ECC had 13-4 advantage in the third to lead 39-19 and had a 34-4 fourth quarter edge to set the final.
Miller led Clarion with 7 points, inclucing a trey. Burford and Dylan Smail each had 6 points and Hooks finished with two.
Chase Simbeck led the Crusaders with a game-high 23 points, including five treys.
The Bobcats are scheduled to travel to Punxsutawney tonight (Monday, January 26th)
