Bobcats Advance To District Nine Boys Basketball Semifinals With Win Over Brockway

The number one seed Clarion Area Bobcats basketball downed the visiting eighth seed Brockway Rovers 55-43 in the District Nine 2A quarterfinals, on Wednesday, February 18th.

The Bobcats will now face fourth seed Port Alleghany, who defeated fifth seed Coudersport 42-34 in their semifinal matchup. The game is scheduled for 6:00 pm on Tuesday, February 24th at St. Marys High School.

The Bobcats led 16-11 after one period. The scoring was identical in the second, with Clarion taking a 32-22 lead into halftime.

A 14-9 third quarter edge by the Bobcats, sent the game to the final frame with Clarion on top 46-31.

A 19-12 Clarion edge in the fourth set the final.

Nathan Frederick led the Bobcat scoring with twenty-one points, including three buckets from beyond-the-arc, with two others in double-figures, Mason Burford with 12 points and Dylan Smail with eleven.

Just missing double figures was Parker Miller, who finished with 11, including a trey.

Wyatt Watterson and Hayden Weber each hit a three-pointer, while scoring five points. Jonas Wilshire added two points.

Three Rovers hit for double-figures, Luke Martino led with 12 points, Caleb Daugherty was next with 11, followed by Aiden Patton with ten.
