Bobcats Down Gators In D9 Boys 2A Semifinal
The Clarion Area Bobcats downed the Port Alleghany Gators 52-46 in their District Nine Class AA semifinal matchup on Tuesday (February 24th) at St. Marys High School.
The two teams were tied at 8-all after one period. The Bobcats had a 13-7 advantage in the second to take a 21-14 lead into the half.
A 15-9 Clarion edge in the third, had them up 36-24 heading to the fourth, where the Gators had a 22-16 advantage set the final.
Nathan Frederick and Dylan Smail scored in double-figures for the Bobcats, with Nathan scoring 17 points and Dylan scoring thirteen. Nathan had two buckets from beyond the arc.
Mason Burford scored 8 points and Parker Miller added six, on two treys.
Quinn O’Neil and Trey Hooks each scored two points.
Jarod Funk had 19 and Isaac Amell had seventeen for the Gators.
The Bobcats will now play in the District Nine Class AA Championship Game against Redbank Valley on Saturday (February 28th). Redbank won their semifinal with Moniteau 49-32.
Bobcat coach Sam Heeter had this to say, “We’re excited for another opportunity to play for a district title this year. The boys have worked incredibly hard to get to this point and we’re looking forward to Saturday.”
