Bobcats Fall To Crusaders In D9 1A Baseball Championship Game

The Clarion Area Bobcats dropped a 5-2 decision to the Elk County Catholic Crusaders, in the District Nine -Class 1A Baseball Championship Game on Memorial Day (Monday, May 25th), at Showers Field in DuBois.

The Crusaders put up a two-spot in the top of the first. After that neither team scored until the fourth, as both scored a run, making the score 3-1 DCC.

The scoring was closed out in the fifth with the Crusaders scoring two runs and the Bobcats plating one runner.

Hayden Weber had a double and an RBI for the Bobcats.

Evan Kriebel doubled and scored a run. Wyatt Watterson singled and scored a run and Billy Kahle singled and drove a run home.

Parker Miller and Carter Hindman each singled.

Matthew Gilmore had three hits, including a double, and three RBIs. He was the winning pitcher, going the distance, tossing 5 strikeouts and walking two.

Clarion will play the winner of today’s (Tuesday, May 26th) Eden Christian Warriors (Sewickley) (15-4), WPIAL #1 seed and 2025 PIAA runner-up, and Greensburg Central Catholic Centurions (17-0), WPIAL #2 seed, Championship Game, at EQT Park in Washington.

The Bobcats played both teams in the 2025 PIAA State Playoffs. They defeated the Centurions 15-5 in the PIAA Quarterfinals and lost to the Warriors 12-1 in the PIAA Semifinals.

The First Round of the PIAA 1A Baseball Playoffs will be held next Monday, June 1st.
