Track And Field Teams Split With Brookville (04/01/17)

The Clarion Area Track and Field Teams traveled to Brookville on Tuesday (March 28th) coming away with a split. The Lady Cats won 76-74, while the Bobcats dropped their contest 104-46.

LADY CATS

Forest Madison Mills, Chelsea Mason and Gabby Weaver were triple winners for the Lady Cats. Mills won the 400 (69.09) and the 800 (2:52.93). Mason won the 1600 (6:42. 60) and the 3200 (13:58.34). Weaver won the 100 hurdles (17.58) and the 300 hurdles (51.80). Mills and Weaver joined Phylicia Hockman and Hannah Phillips on the winning 4×100 relay (4:37.53). Mason joined Ali Troese, Ailish Nagy and Hockman on the victorious 4×800 relay (11:41.52).

Phillips had two seconds in the 400 and the triple jump. Troese was second in the 800

Lexie Lauer won the high jump (4-07), Laken Lewis was victorious in the pole vault (8-06) and Wendy Beveridge won the triple jump 31:08. Beveridge was second while Lewis was second in the 100 hurdles and third in the long jump.

Katie Craig had a second (1600) and a third (3200). Natalie Glenn finished third in the discus.

BOBCATS

Brendan Zerfoss was a triple winner. He won the 100 (11.38) and the 200 (23.03) and joined Marshall Powers, Jake Burns and Ty Burford on the victorious 4×100 relay (45:36). Powers finished third in the 300. Burns took third in the long jump and triple jump.

Jimmy Smathers won the javelin (137-04).

The 4×800 relay consisting of Adam Bettwy, Nathaniel Lerch, Nick Schill and Austin Hummel was victorious 99:27.98). Bettwy was a double winner as he also won the 3200 (9:42.15), while also finishing second in the 1600. Hummel was second in the 800 and Lerch was third. Lerch also took third in the 1600.

Nick Cherico finished second in the shot put. Archer Mills finished third in the high jump and Tom Hearst took third in the pole vault.

The two squads will visit Cranberry on Tuesday.
