The Central Clarion Wildcats Cross Country Team held their Second Annual Wildcat Hustle 5K Cross Country Fundraiser on Friday, July 22nd, with all proceeds going to the Wildcats Cross Country program.
Central Clarion Coach Nicole Oakes shared this summary of the wonderful event:
On July 25th, in the evening, the Central Clarion Wildcats team held it’s Second Annual Wildcat Hustle as a fundraiser for our team.
This year we had even more competitors than in the past and the weather was really shining down on us. While we did not have to worry about rain, the heat and humidity certainly added another challenge to the race.

The evening started off with the Tiny Tots race, our smallest and cutest competitors took to the football field. This race featured our youngest runner of the evening, at 8 days old, baby Fritz made her debut running with dad.
The next event of the evening was the Kids 1 Mile Fun Run, this year we were able to make some changes so that our race began and ended at the same places as the 5K main event.

A great problem to have, before race day we learned that we had not ordered enough medals for all of the kids that had already pre-registered. Some last minute assistance from All American Custom Apparel and Engraving, and we were excited to feature 14 little runners. Truly some champions!
We wrapped up the evening with our 5K Race, due to some changes on the Clarion-Limestone campus we did some scrambling earlier on in the week to re-work the course, so this was the debut of those changes. Until Thursday night, none of the Wildcats had run the entire course, so it was new for everyone.
Taking the overall top spots for the Men’s Division were three Wildcats, Jonas Wilshire, Josh Turner, and Hayden Weber.
In the Women’s Division, the overall winners were Rebecca Pennington, Julianna Schwabenbauer, and Hanna Love.

It was great to see our Wildcats coming out strong before the season even began.
Special thanks to our Wildcat Alumni for coming back and helping us work the event and participating in the race.
Additionally, thanks extends to Coach Rob Pennington and his Karns City Cross team for coming up and supporting our team, and his continued work to unite Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference (KSAC) runners and build a sense of community in our sport

Overall the evening was a success and each year it continues to grow. Thank you to all the individuals and businesses that supported our event.
(Congratulations to all who made this event a big success!!!! Thank you to Coach Oakes for her summary and Diane Lutz for her photos!!)
