Wildcats Fall To Gators In D9 Football League Clash

The Central Clarion Wildcats fell 27-14 to the visiting Port Allegany Gators last Friday (September 5th) at Wiser Field.
The game was closer than the final score, with the Wildcats leading by one-point with two seconds left in the third quarter.
Port Allegany scored first, with Aiden Bliss taking the ball in from one yard out at 5:19 of the first quarter. Jarrod Funk was successful on the point after kick and the Gators led 7-0.
The Wildcats got on the board at 4:33 of the second, with Ethan Rex scoring on a ten-yard pass from quarterback Carter Hindman. Logan Bish was good on the PAT, tying the score at 7-all.
Bliss scored on a twenty-six yard run with 1:45 left in the half. The two-point conversion attempt failed and the Gators took a 13-7 lead in to halftime.
A thirty-one yard touchdown run by Alex Love with just over a minute gone in the third, along with Bish’s successful kick, gave the Wildcats a 14-13 lead.
But Bliss scored on a twenty-seven yard run, with two seconds left in the quarter giving Port a 19-14 lead.
Kellen Veilleux scored the final points of the carrying the ball over from 87 yards out and running for a two-point conversion.
The Wildcats will host the Punxsutawney Chucks at Clarion-Limestone Stadium on Friday (September 12th).
