Dominant Again: Saint Francis University’s Korrin Burns Named NEC/Molten Co-Player of the Week, For Seventh Total Top Award This Season, Korrin And Teammate Alexandra Sappia Both Named Prime Performers

The NCAA Division I Northeast Conference (NEC) has announced their NEC/Molten Major Award winners and Prime Performers for the week ending on Saturday, November 1st and for a remarkable seventh time this season and eleventh in her career, Saint Francis University’s Korrin Burns, a former Clarion Area Bobcat standout, recieved the Top Award.
Korrin, an Outside Hitter was selected as NEC/Molten Co-Player of the Week, along with Long Island University’s Yasmeen Muhammad, a Middle Blocker.
The other two Major Awards winners were Defensive Player of the Week – Miabella Musignac, a Libero, also from LIU and Rookie of the Week, Kassadi Avent from New Haven University.
Korrin and Red Flash teammate Alexandra Sappia, a Setter were named NEC/Molton Prime Performers.
The duo were rewarded for their “Big Time” play in three conference matches.
On Wednesday (October 29th) the Red Flash defeated homestanding Mercyhurst University in four sets (25-17, 22-25, 25-23, 25-18).
Korrin had a big double-double, with 28 kills and eleven digs. She also had two blocks. Alexandra had her usual stellar assist total with forty-two.
Saint Francis hosted Long Island University then hosted Long Island University on Friday and Saturday (October 31st and November 1st.
The Red Flash clinched a NEC Playoff berth on Friday with a four set (22-25, 25-20, 25-18, 25-21) win.
Korrin posted another double-double, with 21 kills and 13 digs, and also had three blocks. Alexandra posted 53 assists and 2 aces.
Saint Francis dropped Saturday’s match in five sets (15-25, 20-25, 25-23, 27-25,12-15).
Korrin finished with 17 kills, 4 blocks and a pair of assists. Alexandra finished with a double-double with 49 assists and 10 digs, her seventeenth career double-double. She also had six aces.
