Girls Basketball: Bobcats Compete In Ridgway Tipoff Tournament

The Clarion Area girls basketball team participated in the Ridgway Tipoff Tournament on Monday, December 1st and Wednesday, December 3rd.

The young Bobcats fell to Ridgway 51-11 in Monday’s opener and to Smethport 35-24, in the consolution match on Wednesday.

Lacey Lauer scored 5 points against Ridgway, while Neyma Nomkouni and Laney Wright each had two points.

The Bobcats were down 14-6 at the half against Smethport at the half. The Cats hung tough in the final two periods, with only a three point differential seperating the two. Smethport scored 7 points to the Bobcats’ five in the third and won the fourth period 14-13.

Lauer and Alivia Diehl led the Bobcat scoring with 10 points each, while Nomkouni and Wright each had two points.

Keystone won the Championship over Ridgway 49-39 on Wednesday, after downing Smethport 56-31 on Monday.

Bobcat Coach Erin Fox said, “We are a very young team learning to play together at this level of competition, but they are playing hard and making progress every day.”
