Bobcat Boys Season Comes To An End With Loss To Lions In PIAA Boys 2A Second Round State Playoff Game

The Clarion Bobcats Boys Basketball team’s fine season ended with a 53-39 loss to the United Lions in their PIAA State Class 2A second round matchup at Armstrong Junior/Senior High School gymnasium, in Kittanning on Wednesday (March 12th).

United came into the game undefeated at 28-0, while Clarion entered the contest at 19-8.

The Lions led 11-9 after one period and with an 18-4 edge in the second, they took a 29-13 lead into the half. The third saw United with just a one-point, 15-14 advantage heading to the fourth. A 12-9 Bobcat edge there, set the final.

Wyatt Watterson led the Bobcat scoring with eleven points, including a trey. Dylan Smail followed with 8 points, Mason Burford added 6 and Nathan Frederick finished with five.

Parker miller scored 4 points, Quinn O’Neil had 3 and Jonas Wilshire finished with three.

The Lions scoring leaders were Carter Payne with 15 and Ryan Felix with eleven.

This was the final game for the Bobcat seniors, which included Mason, Nathan, Wyatt, Quinn, Jonas, Hayden Weber and Luke Rouze.

Clarion head coach Sam Heeter had this to say after about the team, “It’s always difficult when a season ends, but with this team, it was especially difficult. I am so proud of this group and everything they’ve accomplished this year.
